How do you call the inhabitants of Chennai?

Annan for someone elder to you (Male)Ayya for a very elderly person (male)Thambi for a kid (male)Sir for othersAmma for someone elder to you(Female)Papa for someone younger or a kid (female)Madam for others|||They are called Tamils. Following the old name Madras, some can call them "Maddu"s which may be offensive.|||They are basically called as tamilians or madrasis. Specifically as state above.|||Tamilians or Chennaites! I would say Chennaites would be the most politicaly correct word, because other language speaking people also live in Chennai.|||Chennaites is the best nomenclature..way back some decades ago, people of north of india are generally refer the south-indians ( whether ffrom kerala, andhra and karnataka) as MADARASIS..|||Chennai wallas ...(they will kill me )....by the way people of north india called madrasis even if they are from kerala ,andhra ,karnataka
