HEREND FISHNET FIGURINES BUYING GUIDE

Other then a diploma in Economics, I have a diploma in appraising.
I currently buy and sell items on okay, especially Herend Fishnet figurines.
Here is a small guide to buying Herend fishnet figurines safetly on okay. Thus guide is also a general buing guide for okay buyers, with usefull tipps and help.

2006. AUGUST 1 - PLEASE BEWARE A LARGE NUMBER OF FAKE, AND OFTEN VERY LOW QUALITY HEREND FISHNET ITEMS HAVE FLOODED THE MARKET. HOW TO BE SAFE?
- Check pics. If they are blurred, not clear, they are that way for a reason
- Listen to your gut feeling. If something tells you something is not right, just dont bid!
- Use paypal to pay. It offers the best buyer protection. This way you can be sure that you WILL get your money back should it turn out to be fake
- Buy from trusted sellers, established sellers,with high feedback, and high rating.
- Dont fall for old tricks, see the many buying guides. Economics dictates, that you cannot buy / sell Herend pieces for 1 cents, or way below retil value (say 10%-20%) unless something is wrong.
- Its hard to write down exactly how a fake piece can be identifyied, but look at herend usa's homepage, trusted sellers pics of items and gepare. You will see the diference in quality.
- Watch out for stamps, they should not peel, gee off etc. There is a collection of fake herend stamps here somewhere on okay, google it.

About Herend:
- Set up in the mid 19th century
- Located in Herend, Hungary, a town in Central Hungary near Lake Balaton
- The Fishnet type of figurines have a very long history. Originally "developed" in China, fishnhet figurines became very popular in the early 19th Century. Many were made in Japan (IMARI). However, Herend porcelain manafactury started to mak Fishnet figurines as early as the end of the 19th Century, and undoubtedly begee the master of this very quickly.

Buying Herend (and other items)on okay guide:
- Look out for bargains: Be sensible about buying on okay. Many bargains can be had, with new Herend fishnet items selling for as little as 40-60% of retail. Dont miss out: However, if you see a Herend item you like, I strongly recgeend you bid, as not all figurines are avalibale all the time.
- Buy from authentic sellers: Watch out, and buy only from sellers with at least a 98% feedback, but possibly at least 99%. Use sensibilty, and buy from sellers, who display their shiping prices, etc.
- Use paypal (when possible): Buy from sellers who offer paypal, as they (paypal) have a great buyer protection policy. If you pay via another method, you have to be sure that he seller is 100% trustworthy.
- Watch out for fakes: As with every item, there are fakes. Watch out for blurry pictures, no info for shipping, limited, untraceable payment options. All these indicate something is not correct.
- Ask: There are many helpfull sellers on okay. Without advertising, if in doubt about a piece, ask a seller who sells a lot of Herend pieces (me for exampls)for help. I have recieved help from the okay gemunity for a number of things. This is definatley an upside of okay.
- Set your heighest bid: Set you heighest bid and stick with it. Items will eventually always gee up for sale again. However, if it is a rarer piece, perhaps you should add 20% onto your heighest bid to ensure a win.
- Dont be afraid to buy internationally: Especially if the seller offers paypal, you are protected. No need to miss out on a good bargain.
- Watch out for unique Herend items: There are many Herend fishnet items that gee up, that are no longer made, and/or were made in a limited quatity or an export market. Buying these is a great opportunity to increase your fishnet collection with unique herend fishnet items.
- Save Herend fishnet search: You have the ability to save your favourite searches. okay will then send you a partial list of latest items, and you can easily check up on new fishnet items. I recgeend saving either herend fishnet or just fishnet.
